Neon Signs and Backdrops

When it comes to Florida weddings and events, neon signs are having a ✨moment✨ They’ve become a must-have décor element, bringing a dash of personality and style to any occasion. As a photo booth company, we get lots of questions from couples and planners alike asking how they can ensure the best output for their photos. So if you're planning to include a neon sign in your event's photo booth setup, we've got you covered! In this blog post, we'll share some valuable tips to help you ensure the best results while capturing those unforgettable moments.

No Surprises!

Don’t forget to tell your photo booth rental company that you’d like to incorporate your neon sign. There’s nothing worse than showing up to a venue and being surprised by a sign that’s hung incorrectly, or can’t hang on our backdrop. Most of our backdrops are “pillowcase style”, so we require fishing line and S-Hooks to properly hang your sign so we don’t damage our drops. Don’t risk the chance of your sign ending up somewhere else - a quick email is all it takes to give us a heads up.

The Placement

When it comes to neon signs, placement is key. the average person is around 5’8 or so tall, so you’ll want to place the sign slightly higher that that. Placing the sign as a focal point (usually in the middle of the backdrop) ensures that it shines in the photos. I’ve seen other setups where the sign is placed off to the side, so it shows in the corner of the photo. Communicate with your event photographer or photo booth operator to find the best angle that captures the sign's glow and your guests' smiles.

TIP: See if your sign can be hung at a slight tilt, so that the top of the sign tilts down a few degrees. This will help with any reflections in the neon’s plexiglass backing.

Coordinating with your Backdrop

Whether you're using one of our backdrops or one provided by a different company, it's essential to coordinate its design and color scheme with the neon sign. A harmonious blend of the backdrop and the neon sign creates a visually appealing backdrop for your photos. Remember, contrast can be a powerful tool – a dark backdrop might make the neon sign pop even more. For white backdrops, we don’t recommend using a white neon. For hedge walls, a white or “warm” neon light looks great!

Mind the Lighting

Be sure you understand what kind of lighting your photo booth uses. At Juju Booth, we only use strobe lighting for our photos. Because these lights are more powerful that an LED neon sign, you won’t see the “glow” in the final photos. It's crucial to test the lighting before the event to ensure that the neon sign's colors aren't washed out or distorted. As professional photographers first, we understand how to angle the light and set the camera settings for the best final output.

Clear the Clutter

Keep the backdrop clutter-free to allow the neon sign to take center stage. Remove any unnecessary objects or distractions from the photo booth area. A clean backdrop not only lets the neon sign shine but also creates a polished and professional look for your photos.

Test, test, TEST

Don’t worry, we got this part handled 💪🏼 Before the event begins, we’ll perform thorough tests to ensure everything is working seamlessly. We test the neon sign, the strobe light, and the camera settings to find the perfect combination that showcases the neon's brilliance and captures the joy of the moment. By testing ahead of time, we’re well-prepared to deliver stunning photos at the end of your event!

Incorporating a trendy neon sign into your South Florida event's photo booth setup is a surefire way to create captivating and unforgettable memories. By considering factors like placement, coordination, lighting, and testing, you'll be able to capture the neon sign's charm and your guests' joy in all its glory. Remember, communication with your photo booth operator and guests is key to ensuring that every snapshot is a work of art. Here's to creating neon-kissed memories that last a lifetime!
